i would like to start a post which maybe a little off topic however it does involve the recycling centre on rugby road, west bridgford

why do we need to have the recycling centre here :? ? originally it would have been surrounded by waste ground, and there was a landfill just behind it however, now there is a large residential area right next to it. recycling has grown in the last few years and the site is used constantly so there is heavy traffic through it and so alot of air pollution and noise pollution .it will only get worse :( . so i think the best idea would be to move it .
most recycling centres from what i have seen are well away from residential areas .the site also uses some very old fashioned equipment to crush the materials and not a hydraulic type crusher which also seems very ungreen in this day of using less petrol type products

well hopefully other people from the houses around me find this site and have similar views.

Recycling as we know has moved on in the last decade and depending on your own upbringing and lifestyle some of us have been doing it for years....usually out of necessity. I am one of 6 children and we were never allowed to waste anything, as we couldn't afford to......sounds a bit like the current situation in the world.
I understand that there will always be concerns about where the facilities to encourage people to recycle are based but surely the benefits outway the inconveniences in most cases?
I was a teacher for 30 years and my school had a paper bank, aluminium can bank and composter before it was "trendy" and that helped our Nursery and Infant aged children and their families understand the need to value our resources. In fact staff in Primary schools are some of the longest established and creative recyclers. All of us with children have sent an empty cereal box to school and had a space ship in return! Haven't we?

Aurora, thanks for the post and welcome to our new forum. I hope you enjoy the posts and as explained on our recycling2go web site the idea is to invoke communication amongst our residents and general users to the forum. I just thought it best to explain a little about the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Rugby Road West Bridgford.

The Borough council provide recycling sites such as those in Compton Acres and super markets, those are for recycling items that are not collected at the kerbside, where as Nottinghamshire County Council own the HWRC's and Veolia ES operate them as part of a PFI agreement.

The HWRC at Rugby Road takes large items that can not be easily recycled using our 3 bin system or our own bulky waste service. It is a well used and vital site that has not long gone through a refurbishment to make using the facility a better experience. If you do find though some of the operations do effect your environment you are more that able to contact the County Council to voice your concerns.

Hope this explains a little more about where your complaint should be directed, if operations at the HWRC on Rugby Road do directly affect you.

Once again welcome to our forum.
